Artist: Various Artists Album: Killer Queen: A Tribute to Queen (Hollywood/Sony BMG)

You'd be forgiven for approaching tribute albums with great trepidation.

There's nothing cohesive about Killer Queen, so picking out the best and worst on display may prove to be more illuminating than debating the merits of the album in its entirety.

Gavin DeGraw's We are the Champions raises an interesting question -- do you give an artiste credit for trying something new, even if he crashes and burns as spectacularly as DeGraw does here?

Let's just say that it's a good choice as an opening track, simply because things liven up considerably whenover.

Rounding things up is five-woman band Antigone Rising, revelling in the irony as it delivers Fat Bottom Girls with one eyebrow firmly raised.

Killer Queen has its hits and misses, but suffers most from a somewhat scattershot approach when it comes to sampling from one of the most iconic songbooks in rock history.

Still, even if all it does is to leave the listener with an urge to crank up the volume and revel in the off-kilter glory of Freddie Mercury and company, thatbe a bad thing.
