With The Rolling Stones releasing one of their most significant albums in the last two decades, it should not be necessary to listen to a band that claims to be under the influence of the legendary outfit.
But London-based quartet Rooster do a good imitation of the Stones and deserve a listen.
There is also an interesting parallel between the two bands; Stones' vocalist Mick Jagger and Rooster's axeman Luck Potashnick both attended the London School of Economics.
Rooster's self-titled album is an explosive record that recalls the raw energy of the early Stones, although it is a little bit too polished with studio trickery.
On the way to realizing the Stones' music, Rooster, however, at times mistakes the rock 'n' roll legends for lesser acts like Guns N' Roses and Aerosmith.
And against the prevailing trend in the Brit-pop scene, Rooster sound too simpleminded. -- M. Taufiqurrahman
