Artist: Marion Raven Album: Here I Am (Atlantic)
Name-dropping the Doors' Jim Morrison does not lead to greatness. Such is the lesson singer Marion Raven should have learned from day one of her musical career.
In the germination of Here I Am, Raven's debut album after her stint with pop duo M2M, this 21-year-old Norwegian hottie said "I was in this Jim Morrison period and this album was inspired by his band."
But from his new digs in the boho part of Paris, Morrison would probably be rattling in his grave listening to this album. Aside from "This is the end, my only friend" lyrics in For You I'll Die, there is nothing to suggest that this album borrows anything from the Doors.
If anything, Raven sounds like the whinier version of Avril Lavigne, with her thin vocals trying to match a much thinner aural arrangement.
