Art Festival highlights town

TANGERANG: The 12th anniversary of the Tangerang municipal
administration is being celebrated in a week-long arts festival
that opened Monday.

The traditional Cokek dance, which will be held at a rare
traditional house in Selapajang, Neglasari district, is one of
the main attractions.

The 2005 Tangerang Arts Festival, according to Mayor Wahidin
Halim, is a blend of traditional and modern art performances.

A photo exhibition featuring the works of Brull Nasrullah and
Wilson Tjandinegara will be held at Padepokan Seni Eksis in
Cipondoh, and a cartoon exhibition by artist MW Fauzi will be
held at Balai Budaya in Cikokol.

"The annual event is aimed at stimulating the development of
the arts in Tangerang," Tangerang Arts Council executive Wowok
Hesti Prabowo said. -- JP
