Art auction on Thursday

JAKARTA (JP): As part of an effort to raise funds, The Kasih Mulia Foundation will hold an auction of the works of noted local artist Srihadi Soedarsono and Netherlands artist Arie Smit, at Wisma GKBI on Jl. Sudirman in Central Jakarta, on Thursday.

"The funds raised by the auction, dubbed "A Little Action With Love" will be used to establish a rehabilitation center for drug addicts," the foundation's chairman Rev. Lambertus Somar said in a statement, copies of which were made available to the press.

As the bonus for buyers of his paintings, Srihadi, who is famous for his paintings of traditional Legong dancers, has promised to sketch their profiles in a 100 x 80 centimeter of canvas, which will be completed later in his studio.

The planned rehabilitation center will be set up in Cisaat, Sukabumi, West Java. The center will have the capacity to accommodate of 300 patients. (lup)
