ARP wins ISO certificate

JAKARTA (JP): PT Asuransi Raksa Pratikara (ARP) claims it is ready to face the global competition to be unleashed with implementation of free trade agreements in Southeast Asia and the Asia-Pacific region in the next millennium.

The insurance company received ISO 9002 certification from SGS International Certification Services of London on Thursday in recognition of its management quality.

Raksa Pratikara's premium income, largely from corporate customers, rose to Rp 95.43 billion (US$14.45 million) in 1998 from Rp 73.82 billion in 1997, mainly due to the sharp increase in the rupiah exchange rate to the greenback.

The company says it is targeting a further 20 percent to 30 percent increase in 1999.

The company has strong reinsurance support from Munich Re and Swiss Re, the two largest reinsurers in the world, ARP president Yuna Prabawangi said at certificate presentation ceremony. (02)
