Armed thieves nabbed, another shot

BOGOR: The Bogor Police arrested on Wednesday three men suspected of armed theft and shot dead another.

Bogor Police intelligence chief Asrizal confirmed the arrests, saying that the group usually targeted cars in factories and residential areas in Bogor. He did not elaborate on the place of the arrests, saying only that the suspects were arrested in East Jakarta. The fourth suspect was shot when he tried to escape.

He said the suspects had been wanted by the police for some time. "They often robbed their victims in Bogor. Their latest theft was in Cikaret subdistrict," he said.

According to Asrizal, the suspects usually confronted their victims with machetes, sickles and FN pistols and were not hesitant to injure or kill their victims. --JP
