Armed robbers shot dead in Medan

MEDAN, North Sumatra: Officers from the police's elite Mobile Brigade (Brimob) shot and killed two alleged armed robbers at a cacao plantation on Jl. Medan-Sibolangit in Deli Serdang regency on Monday.

The suspects were shot in the chest and head. The incident occurred after officers gave chase to the two suspects after a tip from residents.

The officers, riding in a Kijang van, shot at the two robbery suspects as they sped away in another vehicle, in a dramatic high-speed chase.

Police seized two guns and 10 magazines from the suspects.

Medan Police chief Sr. Comr. Bagus Kurniawan said the two suspects had long been wanted by police. -- JP
