Armed robbers get Rp 30m, jewelry

JAKARTA: Two armed robbers attacked a motorcyclist in Kalimalang, East Jakarta, late on Tuesday and got away with Rp 30 million in cash and a quantity of jewelry.

At around 11 p.m. on Tuesday, Sida Situmorang, a jewelry trader, was on his way home when two men on a motorcycle drove close to him as he was passing a school building.

One of the two men quickly grabbed the bag he was carrying.

The robbers pointed a gun at him when he resisted surrendering his bag.

City Police said on Wednesday that its Duren Sawit precinct was still hunting down the robbers. -- Antara
