Armed men burglarize office in S. Jakarta
JAKARTA (JP): Six men broke into an office in Kebayoran Baru,
South Jakarta, and threatened three security guards with a gun
and stole six computers and a motorcycle yesterday.
Local police detective head Second Lt. R. Hendrawan said the
six men drove a blue Kijang van and arrived at the office of PT
Citra Elevator on Jl. Hasanuddin at about 4 a.m.
"The burglars broke the door and threatened the security
guards with a pistol and two machetes," Hendrawan said.
He said the men tied up the three security guards, Hamdani,
Sulasto, and Deni Budiarto, with telephone cables.
Six computers, an Amano time clock and an IBM electric
typewriter were taken by the burglars, said the officer.
He said the robbers also stole a Yamaha RX King motorcycle
that belonged to Hamdani, after grabbing the key from the owner.
After the burglars escaped, the security guards managed to
free themselves and reported the robbery to nearby Kebayoran
Police subprecinct.
Police said the crime scene was still off limits, hoping to
find additional clues that would lead them to the burglars and
stolen property.
Meanwhile, South Jakarta Police arrested on Sunday two men for
allegedly kidnapping a wife of a local boxing promoter in
Cilandak.
South Jakarta Police Chief Lt. Col. Sisno Adiwinoto said
police arrested Simon Sitinjak and his brother Hilman Sitinjak
for kidnapping Adarita Pasaribu from her house on Jl. Mangga at
about 8 a.m., Sunday.
"The men forcefully took the woman to their house on Jl. BDN,
Cilandak Barat," Sisno said.
He said Simon phoned Adarita's husband Anton Sihotang in the
afternoon and asked Anton to pay Rp 10 million (US$3,850), which
his wife owed Simon.
Anton, who said he did not know about the debt, then reported
the kidnapping to police. (jun)
