Armed gang robs family

BOGOR (JP): Some eight armed robbers ransacked a house in Kampung Lebak Wangi in Pamagarsari village in Parung of Bogor regency in the early hours on Thursday, firing shots before their escape with Rp 500,000 in cash.

The homeowner, Santoso, 52, said the robbery took place at around 2 a.m. Some of the gang broke in through the back door while others forced entry through the front door.

"They raided and pointed their guns at two house guards, Ayub, 30, and Mulyadi, 34, who were at the front part of the house. Then we all woke up because of the noise ... the gang yelled and threatened to kill us," Santoso told the police.

"They then messed up the house and took the cash. Before leaving the gang opened fire. One of the guards managed to untie himself and chased after them but the gang had already fled," he added.

Parung Police collected shell casings and a plastic rope used to restrain the guards as evidence. (21/edt)
