Arifin remembered in poetry

JAKARTA (JP): The death of playwright Arifin C. Noer was
commemorated Tuesday evening by a musical performance of his
poems.

The commemoration of Arifin's death last year at his home in
Cipete, South Jakarta, featured artists from the Teater Bel and
the Lab Teater Ketjil groups.

The six poems by Arifin included Impian-impian (Dreams),
Cerita Malam (Night Story), Rindu (Yearnings) and Arak-arakan
Duka (Procession of Sorrow).

Around 100 friends of Arifin and his wife, Jajang Pamuntjak,
came to say prayers and watch the performance.

Attendants included film director Chaerul Imam, screen writer
Misbach Yusa Biran and actors Nani Widjaja and Ida Leman. (anr)
