Arief threatens to sue rector

SALATIGA, Central Java (JP): A lecturer at the Satyawacana
Christian University has threatened to sue the chief of the
college's foundation and its rector on charges of tarnishing his
reputation.

Arief Budiman, an outspoken intellectual, gave the foundation
chief and its rector until Sept. 25 to revoke a letter of warning
issued against him or face a law suit.

He said the content of the letter they jointly issued was
"slanderous" and that he has sought legal assistance from a local
legal aid organization.

Arief is also known as an ardent critic of the university's
