AriaWest files arbitration

JAKARTA (JP): PT AriaWest International filed on Tuesday a US$1.3 billion arbitration claim against state owned telecommunication company PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia (Telkom).

"We are still keeping the door open for settlement. The arbitration claim does not change that

"We still hope that the government will act quickly and work with us in the time that remains to reach a win-win solution," AriaWest's president John Vondras said in a statement.

The company said, the notice of arbitration, which was lodged with the head office of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) in Paris, claimed damages for numerous fundamental breaches of contract by Telkom.
