Are students antisocial now?

From Pikiran Rakyat

Once more students are resorting to rioting and attacking each other.

A matter of profound concern is that these fights are occurring outside the boundaries of schools and no longer affect only the students themselves. Young people run amuck everywhere, no matter what the consequences.

Among the victims are cab drivers, becak drivers, pedestrians and shopkeepers. It is as if the young people no longer care about peace and their social environment.

Apart from showing psychopathic tendencies, they also seem to be antisocial. Do I have the right impression? If so, could this situation be because there is something wrong with the concept serving as the basis of our educational system? If this is not the case, why this trend toward mayhem among our young people?

According to Kaoro Ishikawa, a Japanese expert on quality, the quality of an individual begins and ends with his or her education. Based on this theory, the quality of today's students is rooted in the present concept of education. Are the student disturbances caused by a wrong concept?

Since the matter is quite important to me because I studying to be a teacher, I would appreciate responses to my question from educators.
