Aprilia earns Olympics ticket

JAKARTA (JP): Indonesia's judoka Aprilia Marzuki finished in fourth place in the women's 70 kilograms division at the Asian Judo Championships in Osaka Japan.

In the bronze medal playoff, Aprilia had to bow out to Chinese Liang Zhachia Saturday while the winner in the division was Ueno of Japan.

However, Aprilia still earned the ticket to qualify for the Olympic Games in Sydney in September.

Antara reported two male judokas of Kresna Bayu and Johannes Taslim failed to fulfill their ambition of qualifying in the quadrennial event. Bayu, competing in the 90kgs division, lost in koka at the quarterfinals against Xu Zhiming of China, despite being trained in Japan for nearly two months.

Taslim, fighting in the 73kgs division, was beaten in the first round by Kot Siu of Hong Kong. (yan)
