APRIL launches sustainability report
In a bid to help ensure sustainable forest management, APRIL has launched its first sustainability report as a proactive approach to address environmental concerns raised about the company's operation.
The report, verified by Bureau Veritas -- an international health & safety, environment quality and certification agency, is the first to be issued by any pulp and paper firm in the country.
"It demonstrates the importance of sustainable development to APRIL. With this, we can show our shareholders how we run our business in relation to the environment and the community," Devanesan said.
The report said the company, through its various community development programs, provides the livelihood of more than 100,000 local people. -- JP
