Aplikanusa installs new communication system
JAKARTA (JP): PT Aplikanusa Lintasarta has spent about Rp 30 billion on its new data communication network, the business- division general manager said yesterday.
Arya Damar said Lintasarta had installed a Frame Relay data network in 17 cities.
He said the Frame Relay network would back up its data communication services.
Lintasarta provides network applications for bank's reporting systems, credit card authorizations, shared automated teller machines and Internet services. It also provides data communications for digital data networks and Very Small Aperture Terminals.
"Next year, we are going to expand our service to another 17 cities," Lintasarta director for development Wityasmoro Sih told the company's seminar on Frame Relay yesterday.
Frame Relay is a high-speed inter-networking system used for LAN and IBM host-system interconnections through point-to-point or point-to-multipoint linkages, Arya said.
"It provides users with high-speed access rates from 64 Kbps (kilobytes per second) to 2 Mbps," he said.
Arya said an institution with more than three branches could use the system to save about 40 percent of its monthly communication costs.
He said Frame Relay was developed to tailor customer-specific requirements for most fields, with banks being major users.
Lintasarta, founded in 1988, is 25 percent owned by PT Telkom and 18.8 percent by PT Indosat (both are state-owned telecommunications operators), 7.5 percent by PT Telekomindo, 45 percent by banking staff foundations and 3.7 percent by cooperatives. (04)
