Aperto Networks, a U.S.-based communications network provider, is expanding its WiMAX (Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access) multi-service broadband wireless services in Indonesia's major cities in collaboration with local partner PT Citra Sari Makmur (CSM).
Aperto Network's vice president for marketing and alliances, Manish Gupta, said Monday that the company would build more base transceiver stations (BTSs) in major cities outside Jakarta, such as Surabaya, Medan, Denpasar and Batam, to enable local companies to take advantage of the company's WiMAX, an extension of the 802.11 Wireless Fidelity (WiFi) internet connectivity technology, which provides broadband wireless access within wider area networks.
He said the company was focusing on small and medium enterprises (SMEs), as well as big corporations, as the potential users. (02)
