Anyone for village chief?

YOGYAKARTA: Posts of village head in Bantul regency here are
up for grabs after many recent resignations. They came in the
wake of hundreds of residents demanding their village chiefs step
down because of various charges of wrongdoing.

"Since 1997 there are 30 vacancies for the post of village
chief," Bantul regency spokesman Sriyatni told Antara on Tuesday.

Village chief resignations were in the districts of Sedayu,
Kasihan, Bantul and Dlingo. There are 13 vacancies this year, she
said.
