Antigraft team probes more cases

JAKARTA: The interdepartmental anticorruption team has launched investigations into four more graft cases involving government institutions.

Head of the team, Hendarman Supandji, who is also the deputy attorney general for special crimes, said on Wednesday that the cases involved state-owned firm Pertamina Energy Trading Ltd (Petral), the Ministry of Defense, the Gelora Bung Karno sports complex management company and state-owned fertilizer company PT Pupuk Kaltim.

Hendarman said that the estimated losses caused by alleged corruption in Petral alone reached US$8 million. The team is still calculating the losses resulting from the three other cases.

The investigations follow reports from the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK). -- JP
