Antam's ISO certificate
JAKARTA (JP): The state-owned general mining company PT Aneka Tambang (Antam) yesterday accepted an ISO 9002 certificate for its ferro-nickel plant in Pomalaa, Southeast Sulawesi.
Antam's president, Darmoko Slamet (right), said that the SGS (Societe General de Surveillance) International Certification Services of Switzerland awarded the certificate after carrying out an in-depth assessment over the course of seven months.
The Pomalaa facility is Antam's largest nickel mine.
Darmoko noted that getting the international certification was helpful for his company's preparations to go public next year.
Antam expects to raise about Rp 600 billion (US$255.3 million) with the share issue, which will go towards doubling the production capacity of nickel in matte to 22,000 tons per year.
Erik Rogers (left), the president of SGS International, who presented the ISO 9002, said that Antam was one of 170 companies in Indonesia to have been awarded such quality certificates, but the first state-owned company. (13)
