One expecting news on The Jakarta Post's "People" page on Aug. 6 would have been disappointed by your article on Kobe Bryant, since this Associated Press piece by Eddie Pell was actually filed and published on July 9 in newspapers and websites across the world.
The article's claims that Bryant has not been charged with any crime, or that Kobe has made no public statements regarding the events of June 30 in Colorado, were true when written, but not at all today. Bryant in fact was charged in late July with felony sexual assault and did make a widely reported public statement about the matter soon thereafter.
Especially on a day when much of the Post rightly addressed the bombing at the JW Marriott Hotel, it seems to me foolish to devote so much space to a month-old piece rendered inaccurate by the passage of time.
