Another case of Ecstasy

The detention in Amsterdam on Monday of MS, 49, a senior pilot with Garuda Indonesia, is cause for great concern. The case occurred while we are busy trying to stop the use of the drug Ecstasy. If the suspect should be proven guilty, it would mean he was totally ignoring our efforts to eradicate the drug, which is threatening the future of our young generation.

The arrest made by Dutch police shows their goodwill in cooperating with Indonesia's efforts to eradicate the drug from this country. The earnest efforts made by the Dutch police at least makes our job a little easier. The fight against Ecstasy must be continued and stepped up, considering its wide adverse impact on society. The drug destroys our productive generation and causes valuable funds to be squandered that could be better used for productive purposes.

We hope this case will prompt Indonesian airlines as well as all those individuals who enjoy the same privileges as pilots to be more scrupulous and more watchful.
