Anonymous letter leads to arrests
JAKARTA (JP): Bogor Police arrested five suspects for last month's murder of a man after receiving an anonymous letter which revealed the motive behind the killing, an officer said on Friday.
Bogor Police chief Lt. Col. Ade Husen said the suspects admitted their roles in the killing of Ade Supriatna.
Based on the suspects' preliminary testimony, police now are looking for eight others suspects, Husen was quoted by Antara as saying.
The arrested suspects were identified as Mujri, Adang, Manan, Otang and Suhendar -- all in their 30s.
According to the suspects, the killing of Supriatna last month was masterminded by Mujri, who was angry with the victim.
Mujri said Supriatna agreed to marry his sister-in-law but failed to appear ahead of the wedding ceremony. The bride's family already had sent out invitations and made other preparations for the ceremony.
"Our family was very much embarrassed because of it," Mujri said.
A week later, Supriatna informed Mujri's family that he needed to talk with them.
Mujri then plotted to use the meeting to kill the man.
With the help of 12 accomplices, Mujri killed Supriatna in Ciawi and dumped his body in Parung.
Police said they did not know who sent the letter which led to the arrests. (jun)
