Angry woman stabs husband

JAKARTA (JP): A woman was arrested in Central Jakarta yesterday for attempting to kill her husband, City Police spokesman Lt. Col. E. Aritonang.

He said the woman, identified as Nuraida, 39, stabbed Rozali, 39, in the abdomen, chest and face with a knife following a quarrel between them.

The victim is now being treated at Cipto Mangunkusumo General Hospital in Central Jakarta.

"Preliminary investigation indicates that the suspect did it because she was very angry," he said.

Nuraida was Rozali's second wife, he said.

The incident took place at 2 a.m. yesterday at the home of Rozali's first wife in the Tanah Tinggi sub-district of Johar Baru, said Aritonang.

"Nuraida told interrogators that she was upset and worried that her husband would divorce her," he said.

He said the police were still investigating the case. (cst)
