Angry crowd kill theft suspect

An angry crowd beat to death a young man who is believed to
have stolen a pair of shoes belonging to a worshiper at a mosque
in Rawa Buaya, West Jakarta.

Pos Kota reported yesterday that the suspect, identified by
the name of Sugeng, 18, an immigrant from Cirebon, West Java, was
caught by the crowd stealing a pair of shoes belonging to a
member of the congregation on Monday evening.

Police, who came to the scene shortly after they received a
report from area residents, found the suspect in critical
condition.

The suspect died on the way to hospital. (has)
