Ancol visitor's appeal

I want to warn prospective visitors to Ancol SeaWorld and its vicinity that if they lose their belongings they have no hope whatsoever of retrieving them.

On Aug. 8, my family and I went to SeaWorld at 11:45 a.m. until 2:15 p.m. It was only on Aug. 9 that I discovered I had lost my (used) roll of film. True it is a small thing, but the response that I got was very irritating to say at least. I was passed from one person to another and had to repeat the story many times over. Nobody bothered to identify themselves. If they had I would at least have felt that I was talking to someone responsible for the area and not the cleaner, for example.

One person suggested that if found, the roll of film would only be thrown away. I was incensed that lost property if found by staff of Ancol would be just discarded. All of them professed that Ancol does not operate a lost and found office.

I bemoan the fact that for such a professional theme park, it could be so irresponsible in its efforts to look after its visitors. My husband commented that I should not have expected so much. But I do expect at least some semblance of professionalism from Ancol, since the exhibits are looked after pretty well. I expected some of the same toward their fellow humans.

The number of things missing may be high, since the area is huge, but anything found could be kept in the management's possession for say a maximum of two weeks before it is discarded or sold off. Surely that isn't too much to ask for?
