Ancol programs during holidays

JAKARTA (JP): Marine recreational resort Ancol Dreamland in North Jakarta is offering special programs for students during the current school holidays, an official said on Monday.

"We are organizing, among other things, an exhibition of decorative fish from June 30 to July 9 at the Gelanggang Samudra oceanic arena in cooperation with the Directorate General of Conservation of the Ministry of Forestry and Plantations and the City Public Works Agency," Ancol spokesman Mukhrijul Adil told reporters at City Hall.

"We are also offering an entry ticket to Dunia Fantasi (Dufan) theme park or two entry tickets to Ancol's swimming pool or Gelanggang Samudra for every purchase of Rp 100,000 (US$11) during the decorative fish exhibition," he said in a written statement.

Mukhrijul also said visitors could enjoy several performances involving dolphins, walruses, orangutans, birds and other animals during the exhibition.

"On July 9, Dufan will present its own special programs during the school holidays. Performers from Studio Fantasi will stage The Emperor and His New Cloak operetta and Kahitna, musical group will perform as our guest stars," he said.

"There is also our latest simulation theater in Dufan, called WINGS, where visitors can experience the feeling of being a pilot," he added.

Mukhrijul hinted that the resort had improved its 5.5- kilometer beach line, which stretches from east to west.

"Visitors can run, jog, or go cycling along our newly renovated seaside promenade while watching the sunset or sunrise," he said.

"We are also holding aerobic exercises for visitors to Festival Beach, featuring well-known instructors from 5 a.m. to 7 a.m. on Saturdays and Sundays," he added, while saying that the entrance ticket was only Rp 2,000 during the morning session. (nvn)
