An eye for an eye

From Kompas

I was glad to read reports that the Sri Lankan Eye Bank will no longer send corneas to the Indonesian Eye Bank. I appreciate the Sri Lankan Eye Bank very much for its contributions to Indonesia. We might consider presenting a token of honor to the institution.

Now Indonesia has to cope with its need of corneas by itself, and it is important, in this case, for the authorities to have closer relations with the would-be donors. What procedures should be taken so that a donor may give his/her cornea on time?

I myself wish to donate my corneas if I should die in an accident, for example. For this purpose, I always bring with me the Indonesian Eye Bank's telephone numbers (514967 and 516228). I have told the management of the House for the Aged, where I live, to contact the Indonesian Eye Bank immediately if I die.
