Ample food in W. Nusa Tenggara

MATARAM, West Nusa Tenggara: West Nusa Tenggara Governor H. Warsoti assured people in the province that there is enough rice in stock in the event of a food shortage during the coming dry season.

"We still have 37,000 tons in stock. That is enough to support the needs of the province for the next six months," he said here yesterday as reported by Antara.

He said that early on the government had anticipated the possible shortages during the long dry season.

He said the recent slight increase in prices were not due to a shortage but possibly because farmers had not sold off all their rice crops in anticipation of the coming dry season. (mds)
