Aming yearns for trip to Europe
JAKARTA: Emerging comedian Aming, who is popular for his role in Trans TV's Extravaganza, is among the five 2005 Panasonic Award nominees in the comedy category.
"At first I was happy but I did not expect to win," Aming, who got nominated for the award for the first time this year, said on Thursday at the award's press conference.
"But now after hearing that the prize for winners is a trip to four cities in Europe, I really want to win," skinny Aming told the conference with a serious expression on his face.
Aming, who wore a female haircut and a pair of glasses, emerged to popularity, especially among young audiences, for his role in entertainment program Extravaganza, in which he played in short comic sketches with other comedians like Tora Sudiro.
"My contract with Extravaganza will be until September next year," he said.
Aming, 25, who hails from Bandung, studied at the art and design school at Bandung Institute of Technology, where he developed his comedy acting skills.
However, he modestly said that he was not a comedian, because they usually had above-average intelligence.
He admitted that he still followed a script, which included slapstick. He usually plays a woman wearing thick makeup. --JP
