Amien's schedule prone to change

JAKARTA (JP): Despite his new post as People's Consultative Assembly speaker, it looks as though Amien Rais has done nothing to conform to protocol.

His female staff complained on Friday when dozens of journalists entered his room and said they were waiting for Amien who was scheduled to meet representatives of university students.

"Please check with us first as Pak Amien is not here now. He's out and we don't know where he is at the moment," the staff said in panic.

Amien abruptly changes the schedule without prior notification to his staff members, she said, adding she was often blamed by journalists and visitors.

He planned to receive the students on Friday in his room at 2 p.m., but later reporters heard that Amien preferred to meet them at their base camp situated near Atma Jaya Catholic University at 3 p.m.

She said since his induction on Oct. 3, Amien was prone to changing his own schedule, coming in and sneaking out of his office unnoticed for a while.

"Anyway, happy waiting," she told reporters. (emf)
