Amex to instruct trainers

JAKARTA (JP): American Express Company (Amex), a U.S. charge card company, will hold four-days of instruction here next week for trainers in tourism customer service.

Bill Pardos, general manager of Amex Indonesia, told reporters here yesterday that 30 people from various tourism-related organizations had been selected to participate in the training.

Upon completion of their education, the local trainers will be assigned to instruct other trainers. They, in turn, will train some 60,000 front-liners, such as receptionists, bell boys and room service officials, over the next few years.

According to Pardos, a group of instructors from British Columbia will conduct the education process.

He said that because thousands of tourists who visit Indonesia are customers of Amex, the company decided to help the government improve services in the tourism industry. (09)
