Amex and BII tie up

JAKARTA (JP): Credit card issuer American Express (Amex) and Bank Internasional Indonesia (BII) announced on Monday they were cooperating to provide Amex clients access to BII's ATM services.

In a joint statement, Amex and BII said they had recently signed a memorandum of understanding which would allow Amex clients to pay their bills and withdraw cash at BII's 800 ATMs across Indonesia.

"We are very delighted to partner with BII to provide the convenience of ATM service to our card members and to our bank account holders," Amex vice president and country manager Atul Mathur said in press statement.

BII managing director Rudy N Hamdani said the partnership was part of BII's effort to increase its ATM network in the country.

The two said they would work together over the next few months to implement the system.

Amex said it would issue ATM cards to enable its account holders access to BII's ATMs. It did not say when the service would be available.(bkm)
