America's interest
I don't know whether Mr. Guerin's letter (The Jakarta Post, Oct. 29, 1996) entitled America not perfidious should only be considered as anti-USA hysterics, but it's extremely difficult to make logical sense of the content of the letter, written by a quixotic denigrator of perfidious America.
Sentences like "Europe: take the lead" or "protect your interests," represent the true reason why, according to Mr. Guerin, the USA should stop interfering in Middle East events. It's just a matter of "interest" and of the usual congenital desire of leadership.
Overall, I have been really amazed to read: "Let the USA confine itself to countries geographically near." For sure, it's a matter of an unintentional slip! It could be possible that my knowledge of geography is very patchy but -- as far as I remember -- the Falkland Islands, Cook Island, and so on, are not geographically very near to England, are they?
