Alleged Rp 1.9b graft investigated

TANGERANG: The Tangerang Prosecutor's Office is investigating irregularities in a Rp 1.9 billion tap water project that allegedly involved top officials from the Tangerang office of the state-run tap water company (PDAM).

The Chief of the office, Purwosudiro, told The Jakarta Post on Thursday that his office would summon PDAM president director Rochyat DS, PDAM technical director Erwin Mustika and the former project official Rozhadi Ismaoen for questioning.

He said that in July 1999 PT Christa Amendo won the tender to handle a project involving 45,000 meter water-long pipes and other related equipment worth Rp 1.964 billion. The company had received a letter instructing it to work on the project, but it allegedly commissioned PT Aek Bolon, which lost the tender, to carry out the work.

Separately, Erwin Mustika and Rozhadi Ismaoen denied the allegation. --JP
