Alfa tops the list

GENEVA: In what many insiders are saying is a veiled backlash against Mercedes-Benz's new A-Class, judges in the European car of the year award have handed it to the Alfa Romeo 156.

Second was the VW Golf and third, Audi's A6. European analysts said the recent events in Sweden could well have cost Mercedes the title.
