Alcatel-Satelindo deal

JAKARTA (JP): Alcatel Telecom and PT Satelindo have signed a contract worth US$225 million (Rp 535.5 billion) to expand Satelindo's network for Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) phase three and four.

The company said in a statement yesterday phase three was worth $70 million and phase four $155 million.

The contract covered the supply of a GSM installation system, the installation of base station controllers and radio base stations.

The installation project, expected to be completed within one year, would increase PT Satelindo's networking capacity and coverage in Java.

Satelindo is currently 45 percent owned by PT Bimagraha Telekomindo, a subsidiary of Bimantara Group, 25 percent by DeTe Mobil, 22.5 percent by PT Telkom and 7.5 percent by PT Indosat. (09)
