Aksara to hold int'l seminar

JAKARTA: The Aksara Foundation will hold a two-day international conference titled "Law colloquium 2004 from insult to slander, defamation and the freedom of the press" on July 28 and July 29.

Legal experts Frederick Schauer of Harvard University, Jan Marinus De Meij of Amsterdam University, David Flint of the University of Technology Sydney, Toby Mendel, the director of London-based Article 19 press organization, Masao Horibe of Chuo University and Kyu Ho Youm of Oregon University will present their papers on defamation and press freedom in the United States, the Netherlands, Australia, Japan and South Korea.

Nono Anwar Makarim of the foundation and Hinca I.P. Panjaitan and Amir E. Siregar of the Press Council will present papers on defamation and Indonesian Press Law. -JP
