Airport settles land dispute
BOYOLALI, Central Java: Some 98 families whose land has been procured for the expansion of the Adisumarmo airport have finally accepted the compensation offer from the authorities.
The villagers had earlier declined to accept the offer until the authorities raised the compensation level. An agreement was reached in October but the payments were only made on Tuesday.
The long delay had earlier raised concerns among the villagers that the authorities might have gone back on their words.
Even on the appointed date, they had to wait for hours before finally receiving their money, according to Antara. (emb)
