Air SAR exercise involves S'pore
JAKARTA: Six officers from Singapore's air force are taking part in the Indonesian Air Force Search and Rescue exercise from Nov. 28 through Dec. 1 in the West Java regency of Sukabumi.
Operation commander of the Indonesian Air Force, Rear Air Marshall I.G. Sudana, said in the opening ceremony here yesterday said that Singapore's first-ever participation was expected to better military relations between the two countries.
Sudana said during the ceremony, in which numerous senior officers were present, that 90 air force members will practice how to rescue pilots trapped in enemy territory.
The defense attache of the Singapore embassy, Maj. CH Yee, said that the officers representing his country were three pilots and three air crew members. (pan)
