Air Force urged to spare Borobudur

MAGELANG, Central Java: The agency managing the ancient Borobudur temple near here is pleading with the Air Force not to conduct flight exercises in the area, following a fatal accident at a nearby restaurant.

Heru Widodo said the area is not only drawing tourists, but is also densely populated. He fears that another accident is bound to cause more fatalities.

A light trainer plane crashed into a restaurant near the temple grounds in the incident. The pilot and a waitress died. (har/05)
