Air conditioned buses

From Media Indonesia

There has been a tremendous increase in the number of air conditioned city buses in Jakarta operated by the private sector and by the government-owned PPD company. The PPD buses in particular are already showing wear and tear and are a far cry from their condition right after the Non-Aligned Summit when they were introduced.

The air conditioning has little effect and the radio/tape equipment is gone, but the buses still charge the newly increased fare of Rp 1,800. There seems to be no maintenance. If lack of funds is the reason, the company should reintroduce the system of tickets with the necessary supervision.
