AIDS drive at workplaces
JAKARTA: The Indonesian AIDS Foundation is launching a campaign against the Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) at workplaces.
A play depicting the behavior of some workers, such as having sex during a lunch break, was held to mark the new drive on Friday night.
Former health minister Adhyatma, who heads the campaign, said the foundation targets workers because most AIDS victims are people in the productive ages of between 20 and 39 years old.
The foundation will urge companies to help make their workers aware of the dangers of AIDS. "Companies will have to spend much more on medical cost if their workers have AIDS," he said.
The launching ceremony was attended by Minister of Health Sujudi, Minister of Manpower Abdul Latief, foundation chairperson Martina Widjaja and businessman Sudwikatmono.
Latief welcomed the campaign as helping to sustain workers' productivity. (31)
