Ahmad Ansori elected new IPB rector
BOGOR: Ahmad Ansori Mattjik was elected as the new rector of the Bogor Institute of Agriculture (IPB) on Tuesday, winning 15 votes from the board of trustees' 25 members.
The board of trustees held the election after the two rectorial candidates, held an open dialog, which was also attended by Minister of National Education Abdul Malik Fadjar. The other candidate Eriyatno, won 10 votes.
IPB was quoted by Antara as saying on Tuesday that the result of the rectorial election will be officially announced by the chairman of the board of trustees Muslimin Nasution.
Last week, the Student Executive Body (BEM) rejected the election process, saying that it was heavily influenced by the interests of certain groups.--JP
