Agus Pambagio resigns from YLKI

JAKARTA(JP): An executive of the Indonesian Consumers Foundation (YLKI), Agus Pambagio, resigned from the foundation following media reports that he had received money from state electricity company PLN.

"I submitted my resignation on Monday but the foundation only agreed to my resignation today (Friday) at a plenary meeting," Agus said.

Agus worked for the foundation for more than 17 years and was a founder of Visi Anak Bangsa production house, which was established in 1998 with filmmaker Garin Nugroho, women's activist Debra Yatim and Yanti Sugarda from the polling center.

"I care very much about YLKI and I don't want to disrupt my colleagues' work there with my activities outside the foundation," Agus told

Local media reported recently that Agus had received money in connection with PLN's campaign to increase electricity rates. Part of the campaign included a public announcement made by Visi Anak Bangsa.

Agus has denied the claims.

YLKI chairperson Indah Suksmaningsih could not be reached for comment. (emf)
