AGO seeks members for key commission
JAKARTA: The Attorney General's Office (AGO) will open registrations for potential candidates for the Prosecutors Commission from March 16 to 26.
AGO spokesman R.J. Soehandoyo was quoted by Antara as saying on Tuesday that a presidential decree on the establishment of the commission had been issued recently.
He said that all members of the Indonesian Law Society were allowed to register, but the AGO would shortlist only 14 candidates to be proposed to the president, who would then select seven names to become members of the commission for a four-year period.
The tasks of the commission will be to oversee and evaluate the performance of the country's prosecutors, whose image has long been tarnished by corruption. The commission will also handle human resources at the office. -- Antara
