AGO could employ ex-prosecutors

MEDAN, North Sumatra: The Attorney General's Office is considering appointing several former prosecutors to sit on the planned prosecutors commission, an official said.

"There is an idea to involve those people who once served as attorney generals, or former prosecutors and legal experts," spokesman R.J. Suhandoyo said here on Thursday.

Attorney General Abdul Rahman Saleh has said the prosecutors commission, which is mandated by the law, would evaluate the performance of his office and review orders to halt investigations of suspects, which often happens in high-profile corruption cases.

Suhandoyo said there would be no fit and proper test for potential commission members. -- JP
