Agency cancels subsidy cards

TANGERANG: The Tangerang Statistics Agency canceled at least 1,689 fuel compensation cards on Wednesday after verifying that the holders did not meet the requirements for poor families, Tempo Interaktif reported.

"The proposed number of poor families that are eligible for aid totaled 236,411, but we are verifying whether all of them meet the criteria or not," agency chief Endang Abidin said.

Endang said that the verification was conducted at the end of the month and was expected to finish before the end of the year.

The second batch of welfare payments is expected to be disbursed in January. --JP
